McLaren has confirmed today that its hybrid hypercar, the P1, will be equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine combined with an electric motor. The V8 3.8-liter engine, derived from the V8 of the 12C, delivers 737 hp at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 720 Nm already available at 4,000 rpm. The electric motor produces 179 hp and 260 Nm of torque. The two engines deliver 916 hp and 900 Nm of torque, mated to the dual-clutch transmission. The electric motor can also ensure the functioning of zero emission (E-Mode) for about 10 km, charging the batteries during braking and releasing the accelerator. The battery pack weighs 96 kg and is fitted behind the carbon fiber MonoCage monoque. Through the steering wheel controls you can activate the DRS (Drag Reduction System) and IPAS (Instant Power Assist System). The first, similar to that of Formula 1, change the incidence of the ailerons, while the second allows to use the full power of the electric motor to have a quicker response on the accelerator. McLaren ha confermato oggi che la sua hypercar ibrida, la P1, sarà dotata di un motore V8 biturbo abbinato a un motore elettrico. Il V8 da 3.8 litri, derivato dal motore della 12C, eroga 737 cv a 7.500 giri/minuto e una coppia massima di 720 Nm già disponibili a 4.000 giri/minuto. Il motore elettrico genera 179 cv e 260 Nm di coppia. I due motori erogano insieme 916 cv e 900 Nm di coppia, abbinati alla trasmissione a doppia frizione. Il motore elettrico può garantire anche il funzionamento a emissioni zero (E-Mode) per circa 10 km, ricaricando le batterie durante le frenate e rilasciando l'acceleratore. Il pacco batterie pesa 96 kg ed è montato dietro alla monoscocca MonoCage in fibra di carbonio. Attraverso dei comandi sul volante sarà possibile attivare il DRS (Drag Reduction System) e l'IPAS (Instant Power Assist System). Il primo, simile a quello delle Formula 1, modifica l'incidenza degli alettoni, mentre il secondo consente di utilizzare tutta la potenza del motore elettrico per avere una risposta più pronta sull'acceleratore.
